Check Your Car Tyres Before Driving On This Highway

Car drivers may be fined for using poor-quality tires on the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway, also known as the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, according to recent reports. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) are currently conducting fitness checks on vehicles, including the inspection of their tires' lifespan, following a recent spate of accidents caused by overspeeding on the high-speed corridor.

The expressway allows for a maximum speed limit of 120 kmph, and cars must be in top condition to safely cover the distance. While the MSRDC and RTO are conducting fitness checks, they will also begin issuing fines, which could reach up to ₹20,000. More than 100 patrolling staff members have reportedly been deployed along the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway to monitor these vehicles. An official announcement regarding the fines is yet to be made. The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is a controlled-access expressway that spans 701 km, connecting Maharashtra's two major cities and passing through ten significant districts, including Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, and Thane.

As India's road infrastructure continues to improve, several new expressways are expected to play a critical role in enhancing connectivity throughout the country. These expressways are designed for high-speed driving, making it all the more important to maintain vehicles in excellent condition.
