The Beat diesel model was launched in the Indian market about a few month back, while its petrol version is already in the market for almost two years now. Following a continuous rise in the price of petrol fuel, there has been a major shift of buyers towards the diesel versions of the car. It Beat diesel marked its entry at a time when this type of fuel efficient diesel run mass segment car was very much in demand. Carrying a 1.0L three cylinder diesel engine, the Beat diesel model is claimed to be delivering a considerably high mileage of over 24 km per liter.

While commenting on the company’s performance, GM India Vice President P Balendran said that besides Beat diesel, the other car-lines including Cruze and Tavera have also generated the volumes as per the expectations. He added that the market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in fuel prices, interest rates and commodity prices, negative market sentiments, and growing inflation.
