Chevrolet Beat electric to be exhibited in this monsoon
US based GM is all set to showcase an electric version of its famous model Chevrolet Beat model in India. GM has developed it domestically in corporation with its global technical team. Beat will be displayed in the last week of June, 2011
According to current media information, the battery of the new Beat will be entirely charged in 8 hours and its potential to run in a single charge will be 130 km. It is expected to generate about 60 bhp of power, consequently making it as powerful as the standard conventional car in the bazaar.

In an announcement to Business Line, a senior official of GM alleged that their strategy is presently to display their technology and arrange for test drive of the new Beat only for a few eminent individuals. He further added that the vehicles will be accumulated in India from the components designed and reserved worldwide. But they will not be commencing this instantaneously for the lack of charging infrastructure for EVs in India.
Mr. Karl Slym, President and Managing Director of GMI remarking on the Beat diesel said that in the mini-car segment they had neglected the diesel alternative. But now they anticipate this modification to acquire a 70% share of the entire trade of the car.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10 and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
