Chevrolet Beat: First Fleet exported to Chile

It is reported that General Motors India has started exporting the Beat hatchback to Chile. According to sources the company dispatched 140 units of left hand drive Beats to Chile. These units were shipped on September 25, 2014 from Mumbai Port Trust of India and would touch the land of Chile in couple of weeks. As it is known that Beat is one of the fuel efficient hatchbacks offered by the car maker. For Indian car market it is being produced at company’s production unit located at Talegaon in Mumbai.

The roll out formalities of Beat from company’s production unit were carried out in presence of company CEO Marry Barra. The Talegaon production unit has production capacity of producing 170,000 units of cars. In Indian car market Beat is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant is empowered with 1.2 litre petrol engine boosting the power of 80 bhp and torque of 140Nm. While the diesel variant is energized with three cylinder 1.0 litre diesel engine generating the power of 58 bhp and torque of 150Nm. Both the engine are mated with five  speed manual gearbox.

Commenting on the dispatch Beat to Chile Mr. Arvind Saxena, GM India President and Managing Director said that shipment of Chevrolet Beat to Chile is an illustration of company’s commitment of making products made in Indian market available in global market and now Beat would be shipped to Chile every month. Moving ahead Mr. Saxena said that with this company is also looking to find potential of exports to other markets of world. This will facilitate company to make full utilization of its production unit located at Talegaon.
