Chevrolet Beat makes its move to Latin America
American car maker General Motors is going to export its Beat hatchback to Latin America from the middle of this year, in the beginning it will export about 2000 units of Beat to Chile and will later on explore its market to Mexico, Peru and Central American and Caribbean countries by the beginning of next year. At the beginning of this year company had announced that it is planning to export its products from its production unit located in Indian continent. At present company is exporting its Tavera MPV to India’s neighboring countries namely Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.

At present company is rejuvenating its operational strategy in international market and as a part of this strategy it has placed the major responsibility of exporting Beat hatchback to Latin America from its operational unit located in India. According to sources of company in the beginning the quantity of export would be small restricted only to 2,000 units which would be further enhanced to 30,000 units to 33,000 units annually in coming couple of years.
In India company has its major operational units located at Talegaon in Maharashtra and Halol in Gujarat. The production capacity of both these units is 2.82 lakh units annually. In current scenario Indian car market is going through tough phase since last one year but still Chevrolet succeeds in marking its strong presence in market. With strict existing competition and huge production efficiency company is able to sale out only 40 percent of its production and therefore exporting the surplus to other markets could prove to be a beneficial strategy by company.
