Chevrolet car prices increased by up to Rs 15000

Indian car maker Maruti and American Car giant General Motors have given a hike to car prices by up to Rs 17,000. The hike was impending in January and the industry has been forecasting it since December following the rise in commodity prices and fall in the value of rupee. With this the prices of Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Cruze besides the best selling Chevrolet Beat Diesel have witnessed an increase from Rs 3000 to Rs 15,000.  Compared to Maruti, GM India has only hiked the prices between 0.5 per cent and 1.75 per cent for its offerings in India.

Interestingly, Maruti Swift Dzire has been exempted from price hike as its newer version is about to come soon. The maximum hike of Rs 17, 000 is witnessed in the Maruti Swift price. On the other hand General Motors has also hiked the prices of its product offerings in India including Chevrolet Beat Diesel that has been a star performer for the company in the last quarter of 2011 and has taken the overall sales to a respectable height. Besides, prices of Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Cruze and others have also been increased.

Maruti has given a hike from 0.3 percent to 3.4 percent and as a result the Maruti SX4 is now costlier by Rs 2,400 while the Swift is now costs Rs 17,000 more than the 2011 model. Similarly there has been a marginal increase in the price of other Maruti cars in India including the most popular hatchback Maruti Alto K10 and others. Notably, Maruti has postponed an increase in the price of its popular sedan Maruti Swift Dzire as a new version is soon to be launched. Notably, Maruti Swift Dzire along with Maruti SX4 had been solely positive in sales while all other Maruti cars had a meek response last December.
