Chevrolet Essentia Caught During Test Drive
Chevrolet Essentia the first ever compact from U.S. based car maker General Motors has been caught testing on Indian roads recently. The prototype of Essentia caught under test was strictly covered and did not give any glimpse about features and appearance it will carry on exterior portion. According to reports it will be developed on the platform on which generation next Beat hatchback will be developed and after launch in Indian car market it will compete against Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent. It is reported that Essentia will bridge the gap between Beat hatchback and Sail sedan. It is scheduled for launch sometimes during the next year.
Under the hood Essentia will be introduced in both petrol and diesel disguises. The petrol variant will be enriched with 1.2 litre SMARTECH 4 clyinder engine that will boost the power of 76 bhp and torque of 106 Nm, whereas the diesel variant will be boosted by 1.0 litre SMARTECH 3 cylinder engine which will developed the power of 56 bhp and torque of 142Nm. The transmission duty will be looked by five speed manual gearbox. It is speculated to be offered in the price range of Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 7 lakh (ex-showroom price). and petrol variant is anticipated to deliver an average of 17 kmp while the diesel might deliver an average of 24 kmpl.
The exterior of Essentia are said to carry same look as will be offered in generation next Beat hatchback slated for launch sometimes during next year. The front fascia is said to be dominated by exclusive use of chrome work. Inside the cabin it is reported that Essentia will carry an elegant look comprising of feature like dual tone upholstery, steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment system, spacious cabin to offer comfort seating experience to five adults and many more.
