Cost of EVs Will Be Equal To Petrol Vehicles In 2 Years
Honourable Minister of Road and Transport, Nitin Gadkari, has said that the price of electric vehicles in the country will be equivalent to petrol-based vehicles in the next two years. In his words with vast technological developments and increasing concentration on green fuel, the price of electric vehicles will come closer to vehicles running on petrol and fuel options. Replying to a question regarding the demands for the grants for road transport and highways, the Minister replied, that there is a need to adopt cost-effective indigenous fuel options. According to him, the use of indigenous fuel will soon turn into reality and help in bringing down the levels of pollution.

He urged all the members of Parliament to use the vehicles based on hydrogen technology. Mr Gadkari asked them to encourage the practice of converting sewage water for producing green hydrogen in their respective constitutional areas.
In his words, "I can say within maximum two years, the cost of electric scooter, car, autorickshaw will be same as petrol-driven scooter, car, autorickshaw. Prices of a lithium-ion battery are coming down. We are developing this chemistry of zinc-ion, aluminium-ion, sodium-ion batteries. If petrol, you are spending Rs 100, then on the electric vehicle you will spend Rs 10 (for using)."
