Engine details of Mahindra S101 leaked
In current scenario when there is regular increase in demand of compact SUV’s in Indian car market, the upcoming compact SUV codenamed as Mahindra S101from domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra has gained huge popularity quite early before its launch. Expected to make its debut sometimes during 2015 the compact SUV has made everyone excited to know about various features adorned in it, more specifically different types of engine configurations and their displacement capacity. It is reported that car maker is working on developing an engine family of seven engines based on same platform, these will include 1.2 litre diesel and petrol engine, 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engine, 1.5 litre diesel engine, which would be further enhanced to 1.5 litre and 1.0 litre petrol engine.
According to reports the engine portfolio of new S101 by Mahindra would be developed in collaboration with SsangYong. The first family of engine which would be 1.2 litre engine in both petrol and diesel variants would be carried from SsangYong X100 which is expected to be launched in global market during 2015 and would be offered with 1.6 litre engines in both petrol and diesel variants. The SsangYong X100 would not be however launched in Indian car market. The 1.2 litre engine that would be launched here will generate the power of 80PS.
According to Mr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, M&M, said that the engine configurations offered in Mahindra S101 would carry the features of engines developed by SsangYong and Mahindra. Mr. Goenka also added that in the beginning 1.5 litre diesel engine would not offered in Mahindra S101 and would be added in the portfolio either by the end of 2016 or by the beginning of 2017.
