Fiat India bears major sales collapse in October; manages to sell petty 622 units
The Italian car manufacturer in the nation; Fiat India this October has made sales of 622 vehicles; a wretched sales figure on the backdrop of festive season. During the festive season the Fiat India left no stone unturned to grow its sales by offering one of the best discounts that ranged up to INR 1 Lakh on its sedan Linea and hatchback Grande Punto.
Apart from providing discounts, Fiat India also did a fine job by promoting these advantages to the consumers via internet, television and print media. With the entire extravaganza which truly deserved a pat on the back of company, on contradictory the firm walked away helpless with such poor figures.
The company in September recorded a downfall of 25 percent and the following month of October saw a major collapse of nearly 70 percent. The failure was scaled in October month in tandem was the festive season; which is seen as a sales booster apart from the regular sales every month. But this carnival Fiat India performed worst in sales compared to the usual sales per month. It made a sale of 2,025 units last year in the same month, which got shrunk this year to unfortunate 622 units in October.
In any sense the numbers that have come-out, provide no justice to products offered by company. As the two vehicles from Italian legacy; the Linea and Grande Punto, has superb appearance that no car offers in the auto industry, full marks on performance and handling part along with economical diesel powered engine. Just a bit concern goes over interior quality, which is better on competitor’s side at this price. But these elements cannot be blamed for deprived sales volumes.
Sometime back the Italian automaker had announced to end its dealership in collaboration with Tata and arrive with its own stand alone dealerships across the country. Hope this initiative works for Fiat India in getting the firm back on the driver’s seat in the coming years.
