Fiat India cars to be dearer by 2 percent from next month
The Fiat India made vehicles will be costlier by two percent from January 1st 2012 onwards as reported by a company spokesperson. The hike is a result of the current decline in the Indian rupee and increasing raw material costs that forces Fiat India to revise the cost of its vehicles in the upward direction by two percent from next month. The Fiat Linea sedan and Fiat Grande Punto hatchback are the two cars at the moment that represent the lineup of Italian car manufacturer in the country.
Almost all the auto makers in the country, whether home-grown or foreign, have decided to step-in the month of January 2012 with some percentage of price increase. The recent fluctuation of Indian rupee that has been observed since last 3 to 4 months against the American dollar has dropped the margins of the automobile manufacturers in India. Furthermore, the company has been paying the increased price of raw materials that are used in the development of the vehicles.
The sedan Fiat Linea competes with Volkswagen Vento, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, and Ford Fiesta Classic. While the hatchback Grande Punto makes way difficult for Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20 and Ford Figo.
Earlier, global carmakers like General Motors, Toyota Motors, Ford Motors, Hyundai Motors, Honda Motors and Nissan Motors have already declared that they will hike the prices of their vehicles in the nation. Among the home-based auto giants that includes the likes of Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra apart from market leader Maruti Suzuki have announced the augment from the month of January 2012. Maruti Suzuki though mulls over to hike the prices of its vehicles next month, but till now has not announced the proportion of boost.
