Fiat Panda revealed at Frankfurt
Fiat has showcased the new version of its small car Panda, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Fiat Panda which was first introduced in the 1980's, has been reconstructed as 2013 Fiat Panda. The 2013 Fiat Panda will be launched in Europe next year. Currently, there is no official news of its launch in India. But if we believe on rumours Fiat could really benefit itself by launching it in Indian market.
Fiat has been struggling to make its mark in India. Its three cars have failed to live up to the expectations. The sedan Fiat Linea, the hatchback Fiat Punto and the premium segment hatchback Fiat 500 have not been able to generate sales. Now, Fiat should really consider launching Panda in India, as it will appeal to nuclear families. Indian market is largely a small car market, and thus Fiat can make its stand better by launching its small car Panda here.
Fiat Panda is expected to compete with Volkswagen Up, which is also being launched in India soon. The Panda is powered by a 1.3L Diesel engine that generates 69bhp and 75bhp power, as per different versions. The Petrol engine is powered by a 65 bhp Twin air two cylinder engine. Fiat is at present planning of launching a premium segment hatchback called Bravo, in India. Its details are already on the company's website.
The company is co-porducing its cars with Tata Motors, at Tata plant in Pune. Recently, the company announced its plans of opening exclusive showrooms of Fiat across the country. Currently, it has co-dealerships with Tata.
