Fine On Cars For Displaying Religious And Caste Stickers
Displaying religious or caste stickers on cars is a common practice to express faith and love for a particular religion and caste. But if you are in Uttar Pradesh then the Department of Traffic will fine you for this act. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has instructed police officials to fine vehicles displaying such messages. It is said that the display of these stickers distracts other drivers and may disturb the law and order situation in the state.

The report also reveals that this move is not temporary and anyone seen doing this will be fined throughout the year. The traffic police of Noida initiated this campaign on August 11, 2023. Apart from slapping fines on car owners for displaying such stickers, the traffic police is also charging fines from car owners using tinted films on car windows and driving without a licence. It is reported that Noida Traffic Police has already fined 1,073 car drivers for displaying specific caste and religious-related stickers, 443 for using black sheets on windows and 568 for driving without a license.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, no stickers, messages or anything can be pasted or displayed on all types of vehicles. Section 179(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act restricts the use of caste or religion-based stickers and messages on vehicles. The fine for displaying stickers and messages is Rs 1,000, for tinted number plates it is Rs 5,000 and for using the black sheet on windows fine is Rs 2,500 for the first time and Rs 5,000 for the second or more times.
