Five best selling cars in India fail in NCAP Test
Interesting news is coming from car industry which state’s that five best selling cars of their segment running in Indian car market have failed in crash test being organized by Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The cars failed in NCAP test are Celerio and Eeco from country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Eon from Hyundai Motors India Limited, Kwid from Renault Motors and Scorpio from domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra. According to sources of NCAP "The Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Eeco, Mahindra Scorpio and Hyundai Eon all showed low levels of adult occupant protection,"
David Ward, the secretary general of Global NCAP, said that "The latest Safer Cars for India results show how important it is for cars to have a body shell that can remain stable in a crash. This is an absolutely crucial pre-requisite for occupant safety together with fitment at least of front air bags. It is very surprising that a manufacturer like Renault introduced the Kwid initially lacking this essential feature. Global NCAP strongly believes that no manufacturer anywhere in the world should be developing new models that are so clearly sub-standard. Car makers must ensure that their new models pass the UN's minimum crash test regulations, and support use of an airbag.”
The results conducted by NCAP revealed that in case of an accident all cars would harm equally to driver and passengers especially to driver who might struggle for life. After test the NCAP authorities appealed to respective car manufacturers for stopping the production of these cars in India.
