Google’s self driven car hits a mini bus: Google takes its responsibility
It is reported that a self-driven car developed by renowned search engine Google hit a mini bus while the car was changing its lane. According to reports the accident took place on February 23, 2016 while Google’s autonomous car was driving through EL Camino Real in Mountain View. Before hitting the bus the car took right move to take its way towards Castro Street it was there where it noticed some sand bags placed on road interrupting its way and as it changed its way to get away from those bags the incident took place.
According to sources of Google “After a few cars had passed, the Google AV began to proceed back into the center of the lane to pass the sand bags. A public transit bus was approaching from behind. The Google AV test driver saw the bus approaching in the left side mirror but believed the bus would stop or slow to allow the Google AV to continue. Approximately three seconds later, as the Google AV was reentering the center of the lane it made contact with the side of the bus.”
It is reported that Google’s car was driving at the speed of 2 mph and was in autonomous mode whereas another vehicle was being driven at the speed of 15 mph. Although there is no report about any type of injury but still the front wheel of left side and fender of autonomous are reported to get damaged. Commenting on accident Google’s sources said, “In this case, we clearly bear some responsibility, because if our car hadn’t moved there wouldn’t have been a collision.”
