Groupe PSA Confirms The Launch Of Citroen C5 Aircross In 2020
French carmaker Group PSA has finally unveiled its entry-level vehicle Citroen C5 Aircross and confirms its launch sometime during the next year. The group also confirmed that it will launch a new vehicle in the Indian car market every year from 2020 onwards. The French group has entered into the joint collaboration with the Indian group CK Birla which earlier sold the Ambassador brand of cars in the Indian and international car market. The Citroen C5 Aircross will be manufactured locally at the company’s production unit located in Chennai and will jointly look after all the matters from production to sales and other logistics.
As far as details with the powertrains are concerned the company has not yet revealed information regarding this, but it is believed to be empowered with 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol and 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. Both the engines would be developed at the company’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. On the exterior front it is equipped with two-tier full LED headlamps with daytime running lights and indicators, sportier signature grille, glossy black A and B pillars, dual tone tailpipes, tailgate with spoiler, 3D LED modules on either side and many more.
Inside the cabin it will be equipped with leather upholstery for steering and door panels, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, automatic air conditioner, 12.3 inch TFT digital instrument screen, 360 degree vision, electric parking brake, trailer stability control, hill start/descent assist system, park assistance system, reverse parking camera and many more.
After launch in India, the Citroen C5 Aircross will compete against Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It would be interesting to know that Citroen C5 Aircoss was one of the nominee’s for the World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) design award 2018.
