Groupe PSA To Launch Citroen C5 Aircross As Its First Vehicle In India

According to the recent reports, French carmaking group Groupe PSA will launch Citroen C5 Aircross SUV as its first product in the Indian car market. It is also reported that the spies have even caught the SUV undergoing the test drive recently on the Indian roads, and will be brought through Completely Knocked Route (CKD). The SUV is already on the sale in the International car market and is believed to make its debut in India by the beginning of 2021. It would be interesting to know that the SUV has been shortlisted in the category of the best design vehicle in World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) design award.

Under the hood, it would be offered with 2.0 litre diesel engine and 1.2 litre petrol engine, with the transmission duties would be performed by eight-speed automatic transmission system as standard. The French car group along with its Indian partner CK Birla group has already commenced the production of SUV at its production unit located Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. After launch in the Indian car market, the Citroen C5 Aircross will compete against Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Inside, the cabin it will be embellished with eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 12.3 TFT digital instrument cluster followed by 20 additional features to assist the driver while driving.

It is reported that apart from C5 Aircross the carmaker will also launch the C3 Aircross compact SUV in the Indian car market as its second initiative. It will be launched against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra XUV300. The compact SUV C3 Aircross is believed to bridge gap between a hatchback and a SUV. Under the hood iti wll be empowered with 1.5 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and 1.2 .litre three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.

As reported earlier the French car making group Groupe PSA has signed a treaty with the Indian group CK Birla to introduce Citroen brand in the Indian car market.
