ndian car market is mainly dominated by small family cars because of their affordable price range. According to recent study hatchbacks contributes 56% of sales in Indian car market. With year ending it would be interesting to know that which were the major hatchbacks that succeeded in fascinating attention of buyers towards them.
Hyundai Elite i20 : While discussing the major hatchbacks of 2014, the first name that pinches the mind of every Indian car enthusiast is Elite i20 by Korean car maker Hyundai. Volkswagen Polo: In July this year German car maker Volkswagen brought the upgraded version of its highly acclaimed hatchback Polo in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). Empowered with 1.2 litre MPI petrol engine the hatchback delivers an ARAI approved average of 16.5 kmpl. Chevrolet Beat: Available with starting price tag of Rs. 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi), the diesel variant of this hatchback delivers an impressive average of 25.44 kmpl.
