Honda Accord Hybrid may debut this year in Indian car market
After rolling out Honda Accord from its fleet, Japanese car maker Honda Motors is working on bringing the generation next Accord soon in market sometimes during this year in Indian car market, apart from launching of Honda Accord Hybrid version is also in pipeline of company for its plans of 2014. At present Honda Accord Hybrid is being sold in international market. It is rumored that upcoming generation next Accord will be hybrid version of Accord, however car aspirants believe that Honda will also launch in both petrol and diesel variants also.

At present Honda Accord Hybrid is bestowed with 2 litre petrol engine developing the power of 141 PS and torque of 165 Nm. This engine is also powered with electronic motor which makes its total power to 196 bhp and develops the power of 306 Nm, thus facilitating the car owners to drive their car either on petrol or electronic base or directly drive it on hybrid platform. It is coated with e-CVT transmission system. With an objective of minimizing the costs it is expected that company will assemble the parts of Hybrid Accord locally. The main reason behind adopting this strategy is the experience received by Japanese car maker from failure of Civic Hybrid which was brought in Indian car market through CBU route.
However compared to Civic Hybrid, Accord Hybrid would be little expensive as it will be designed according to the requirements of urban consumers. It is therefore speculated that it will be about Rs 6 – Rs 7 lakh higher than the regular version of Accord which will make its cost something between Rs. 30 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. Prior to Honda, another Japanese car maker Toyota Motors has also launched Camry Hybrid in Indian car market which is locally assembled and has helped Toyota to strengthen its position in Indian car market. This time it is expected that apart from launching Hybrid of Accord, company will also offer Honda Accord in both petrol and diesel trims.
