Honda Car India Limited, the leading manufacturer of premium cars in India has announced to hike the prices of its entire portfolio up-to Rs. 16,000 starting from January 1, 2016. It is also said that the price hike will be ranging from Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 16,000 and will vary according to the models manufactured by Japanese car maker. Right now in India, car maker's portfolio comprises of six cars, namely Brio, Amaze, Jazz, City, Mobilio, and CR-V with Brio being the entry level car.
Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales HCIL, stated, "We will hike prices in the range of Rs 10,000-16,000 from January, depending on the model. The price increase has been necessitated on account of increase in input costs."
The price hike announcement from HCIL didn’t come as a surprise as earlier almost all the leading car manufactures have announced the price hike for their entire range including Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mercedes Benz, Skoda and etc. The reason behind it is same- to offset increasing input costs.
