Honda Initiates the Production of WR-V, to Launch in March 2017

Despite of enjoying huge success during last couple of years, Japanese car maker Honda Motors Honda has not tried its hands in crossover segment. However, now it seems that the aspirants of Honda need not have to wait any more for the same as according to the sources the Indian arm Japanese auto giant is soon going to launch its first ever crossover WR-V soon in Indian car market sometimes during the month of March this year. The sources also report that the production of same has been also commenced by the car maker at it production unit in Tapukara. The compact crossover is developed on Jazz platform and will be the second offering by the car maker in Indian car market after launch of facelift Honda City sedan.

The powertrain duties will be performed by 1.2 litre 4 cylinder engine boosting the power of 87 bhp and torque of 110Nm followed by the option of 1.5 litre 4 cylinder engine churning the power of 98 bhp and torque of 200Nm. The transmission duties will be performed by five speed manual transmission system and also with the option of CVT gearbox in the petrol variant, whereas the diesel variant will be offered with six speed manual gearbox transmission system.

Outsourcing the platform from Jazz and City, the WR-V will dimensionally smaller than BR-V compact SUV launched last year, and will have the efficiency of offering comfort seating experience to five persons. Other features that would be offered in WR-V will include reverse parking camera, reversing camera with inbuilt navigation system, and touchscreen. It is also believed that the top end variant might feature touchscreeen climate control and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto System. On the exterior front it will embellish daytime running lights, sixteen inch diamond cut alloy wheels and many more. After launch in market it will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
