Honda Jazz diesel coming mid next year
The first Honda car to have a diesel heart will be Honda Jazz. This will also be the first car by Honda that will have a compact diesel engine under the hood. The Honda Jazz diesel is expected to be launched in the next fiscal and soon after an India launch is expected to happen. Currently the Honda car line up including Honda Brio, Honda City, Honda Accord, Honda Civic and Honda CR-V - all have petrol motors powering them and thus non availability of diesel engine has hugely dented the sales of Honda cars in India.

However some experts suggest that before the Jazz, Honda City diesel will be launched sometime this year. The engine that Jazz is expected to imbibe under the hood is initially believed to be a 1.2 L three port CRDi engine. Notably, Honda Jazz has already received a facelift some time back and even if it did not do good to the car in India and the company expects that it is only the diesel heart that can enable Jazz and other cars to get good sales. Media reports also suggest that with the new diesel engine under the hood, the Jazz will also be undergoing some changes with the exteriors and interiors. As per Japanese media reports, the new Jazz will inherit many designs and line from the small car Honda Brio.

In India, Honda Jazz closely fights with Maruti Swift, and in fact has a distinct place of itself in segment as due to its larger than hatchback proportions and an overall body shape that closely resembles to MPV makes it stand apart from others. Currently Jazz is the second offering from Honda after the entry level Brio. It is placed between Brio and Honda City and it has a clientele of its own contrary to City that is the most loved car. Following the absence of diesel motor, German car VW Vento has at a time driven past its sales.
