Honda Recalls 5,00,000 Vehicles In U.S. And Canada
The Japanese carmaker Honda Motors recalls about 5,00,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada due to technical issues with front seat belts. According to reports, these vehicles were manufactured between 2017 and 2020 and include some of the top-notch models like CR-V (2017-2020), Accord (2018-19), Odyssey (2020), 2019 (Insight) and Acura RDX (2019-2020) respectively.
According to sources of the company, a document posted by the U.S. safety regulators on Wednesday said, “the surface coating on the channel for the buckled can deteriorate over time. The release button can shrink against the channel at lower temperatures, increasing friction and stopping the buckle from latching”. This can increase the chances of injury to front-seat passengers during the crash if the seatbelt buckle doesn’t latch properly.
The sources of Honda said there are no reports of any injuries due to this issue. The dealers will replace defective buckles. The company will start sending notifications to owners of these vehicles from April 17, 2023.
