Honda seems nostalgic - thinks of dropping Accord, no new Civic

It is after the recent parting that the Japanese car maker Honda seems to have changed altogether. As per the latest buzz, the car maker will be cutting some of the sedans from the lineup and will rather focus on compact cars in the country. As per the buzz, the car maker was all set to launch new Civic but as per the new strategy, Honda will not be launching the new Honda Accord as well. Another striking report also confirmed that the car maker could discontinue the Accord sedan in India. All this seems to be the effect of the current slowdown in the economy and the low demand for cars in the country.

As per sources information, the car maker has recently parted itself from Shriram Group and now it is on its own in India. Nobody has ever imagined that after being on a solo journey such hard decisions will be taken by Honda and specially when its cars are doing well in the country. Though there is a slack in demand of petrol cars but Honda cars sold considerably well even in such bad times when other car makers witnessed steep decline in their car sales. Even the best selling small cars such as Maruti Alto had to face the heat. But even in such bad times, small car Honda Brio sold well and had fetched much response from the Indian car buyers. The small car Brio is liked for its space and more than hatchback features.

On being asked, if not sedan then what will be the strategy of Honda India, auto industry experts believe that the car maker will be launching Honda Diesel car models and this is expected to infuse some activity on its sales chart. It is expected that the Honda City Diesel and Honda Civic Diesel are in the offing while a smaller diesel engine could also make it under the hood of Brio and Honda Jazz. A diesel heart in Honda CR-V is almost certain. Meanwhile, the Honda City CNG launch is intact and it will be launched any time this month.
