Hyundai Kona Launched With The Starting Price Of Rs. 25.30 Lakh
Korean car maker Hyundai Motors has finally launched its first electric vehicle the Kona in India with the starting price of Rs. 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom price, India). The Kona is basically a crossover which looks identical to the compact SUV Creta and therefore do not carries any futuristic concept of vehicles by the carmaker. The front fascia assembles sleek LED DRLs along with headlamps placed at beneath of the body colored front bumper. The front bumper also receives Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, thus making front fascia the perfect combination of conventional looks and features.
In the international market Kona is launched with two battery options of 64 kWh and 39.2 kWh. The version of Kona launched in India is empowered with 39.2 kWh battery and reported to cover the distance of 452 kilometers after single charge. On the regular basis it will take seven to eight hours for the battery to charge full, whereas the battery charged up to 80% within the span of an hour when charged with fast charger. The company is offering a portable charger and an AC wall box charger. The portable charger is capable of topping up the battery for driving up to 50 kms within the span of three hours by plugging it in any three pin 15 Amp socket. The 7.2 kW wall box charger will be able to topping up the vehicle within an hour and can run the vehicle up to 50 kms.
On the interior front the Kona do not carries any futuristic display, but still it is elegant and simple to please the buyers. It receives three driving modes Eco, Comfort and Sport. Other interior features include eight inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, ventilated seats, ABS+EBD, wireless charging, and heads-up display. The infotainment system also supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Moving ahead, the interiors of Kona also receives digital instrument console, leather seats, bi-functional LED headlamps, 10 way adjustable driver seat, electric parking brake, sunroof and many more. On the safety front it will be equipped with six airbags, disc brakes for all wheels, ESC, VSM, HAC and virtual engine sound system.
With an objective to provide easy charging facility to the buyers HMIL is also looking to develop a strong charging infrastructure and for this it has joined the hands of Indian Oil Corporation to develop fast charging stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. Along with this the company also plans to operate a special Kona to Kona fleet for providing the facility of emergency charging to its buyers.
