Hyundai Unveils The Bayon SUV
The Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors has unveiled its upcoming compact SUV for the international market to replace the existing hatchback i20 Active from various markets. The name of Bayon is said to be inspired by the Basque Country on the borders of France and Spain.

The upcoming SUV is developed on the platform used in the latest i20 and carries most of its exterior features from the Kona 2021. Some of the features offered on the exterior of the SUV includes thin DRLs, strong shoulder lines on the side profile, a tapering roofline to make it look like a crossover, and arrow-shaped headlamps. The exteriors also receive plastic cladding and faux skid plates on the front and rear fascia to explore its rugged looks.

On the interior front, it carries most of the features outsourced from i20 including switchgear, steering wheel, black dashboard, and also the 10.25-inch display. According to the sources of Hyundai, it has developed the Bayon keeping the needs of its urban buyers and therefore is a perfect combination of space and comfort.

Mechanically, under the hood, there will be two engine options including a 1.2-litre petrol engine boosting the power of 84 hp. Another engine option will be a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine enriched with mild-hybrid technology. This engine develops two states of power including 100 hp and 120 hp. The engine boosting the power of 100hp will be offered in the UK market. The transmission duties will be performed by a five-speed manual gearbox along with an option of a six-speed iMT gearbox.
As far as the launch of Bayon coming to India is concerned nothing has been so revealed by the Korean carmaker. However, it is reported to launch a new micro-SUV in the Indian car market that will be placed under the Venue and will go against the proposed SUV by the domestic carmaker Tata Motors.
