Korean car maker Hyundai has launched the all new Verna based on 4 S concept in Indian car market today with starting price of Rs. 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). The new Verna Fluidic 4S has been launched in both petrol and diesel disguises with two engines options and would be offered in ten variants. Mechanically the new Verna continues the same machinery under the bonnet as offered in the outgoing version. The base variant in petrol version is equipped with 1.4 litre VTVT engine followed by 1.6 litre VTVT engine in the top end variant. On the other side diesel variant is offered with engine options of 1.4 CRDi and 1.6 litre CRDi diesel engine. The petrol is offered with five speed manual gear transmission system followed by six speed manual gear transmission system in diesel trim. Apart from this the top end trims in both versions are offered with four speed automatic transmission option.
The refreshed Verna is already on sale in Russian and Chinese car market where it is being sold as Solaris and carries most of its appearance similar to Verna launched today in Indian car market. Although to make it different from Solaris it has received new front fascia with swept back headlamps followed by revamped bonnet from side. The C segment sedan at one time had been one of the best selling cars in Indian car market. But the car started losing its charm since last year after the launch of new Honda City by Japanese car maker. But now finally the car is now back in war to fight against recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Ford Fiesta, Renault Scala, Volkswagen Vento, Fiat Linea, Honda City and Skoda Rapid.
