India Bound Cars Perform Well in European NCAP Test

For the aspirants of generation next Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, upcoming Skoda Kodiaq SUV and Mini Countryman today’s news will definitely bring smile on their faces. According to latest news coming from European New Car Assessment Program also referred as Euro NCAP the above mentioned upcoming cars in Indian car market have performed extremely well in the latest rounds of crash tests. During test the next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift and Nissan Micra succeeded in getting four star ratings, the upcoming SUV Kodiaq and Mini Countryman scored full five stars during the test. Interestingly the Kodiaq receives AEB system for detecting pedestrians and other cars while driving at the road as standard feature.
 
Commenting about the results Mr. Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General, Euro NCAP, said,” Euro NCAP started rewarding AEB pedestrian systems last year and we have seen a rapid uptake of the technology. We hope to see as fast an adoption of AEB systems that detect cyclists when tests of those systems form part of the rating next year."
 
Generation Next Maruti Suzuki Swift: The EURO NCAP test of Maruti Suzuki Swift was conducted on both the standard variant and the one equipped with safety features. The variant is already on sale in some of the European countries and soon going step in Indian car market. The standard variant succeed in scoring three stars in the safety test. The hatchback scored 83% scores in adult safety and 75% in child safety. On other side the variant with safety features succeed in scoring four stars with 88% in adult occupancy and 75% in child safety.

Skoda Kodiaq SUV: The SUV from Czech car maker is going to make its entry in Indian car market sometimes during the festive season. It would be interested to know that the SUV scored full five stars in the test with 92% score in adult occupancy test and 77% in child occupant safety. The sources of EURO NCAP said that the passenger compartment of the Kodiaq did not damage during the frontal offset test. The knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger were also safe. The same results were revealed for passengers at different positions.

As far as Nissan Micra and Mini Countryman are concerned both the vehicles scored four and five starts respectively in the test.
