India bound Honda BR-V scores 5-Star Rating in ASEAN NCAP
Speculated for launch sometimes during the month of May this year in Indian car market, Honda BR-V the proposed SUV from Japanese car maker has succeeded in scoring five star rating during the recently concluded crash test conducted by Assessment Program for South East Asian Countries NCAP. The crash test was conducted at different stages depending upon the number of adult and child occupants. In test for adult occupants the SUV succeeded in getting 14.79 points out of 16 points and in child occupant test it succeed in scoring 72 percent with four star rating. The top end variant succeeded in scoring five star rating and is offered with safety features like Electronic Stability Control and Seatbelt Reminder System for front and rear passengers equally.
The unit of BR-V used during test was empowered with 1.5 litre i-VTEC four cylinder petrol engine that churns the power of 115 bhp and torque of 146 Nm and mated with continuously variable transmission system. It would be interested to know that the top variant which succeeded in getting five ratings also embellished features like dual front air bags, vehicle stability assist system, reverse camera, ABD and hill start assist system. In a statement, Mr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim, secretary-general of ASEAN NCAP said "It should be noted that only BR-V's higher variants are equipped with ESC and SBR for dual frontal occupants. Nevertheless, we are aiming for the lowest variant to be equipped with similar technologies in order for everyone to benefit these safety features,”
Interestingly in Indian car market apart from petrol version the SUV will be also offered in diesel variant which will be enriched with 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine which is similar to other diesel cars under the flagship of Honda Motors. After launch in India, BR-V will complete against Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
