India Bound Skoda Karoq SUV Gets Five Star In NCAP Ratings

Karoq the proposed SUV from Czech car maker Skoda has succeeded in scoring five star safety rating in the European New Car Assessment Program conducted recently by the NCAP. After Kodiaq, Karoq is the second vehicle from the car maker to receive an award for five star rating during this year. It would be interested to know with these recent achievements the car maker has emerged as one of the few car makers who entire portfolio has grabbed five star rating in the EURO NCAP Test. The Karoq SUV is expected to make its debut in Indian car market sometimes during the 2018.

The safety measures offered in Karoq includes seven airbags as standard feature, ISOFIX system for child safety. The rear portion is equipped with specially developed headrests known as Whiplash Optimized Headrests (WOKS). The system also helps in tightening the front seat belts in case of an accident and automatically closes any of the opened window. The WOKS safety system is offered as standard feature in many of International car markets. Other safety measures include plethora of safety camera, radar and sensor based driver assistance system.
 
 Commenting on the achievement, Christian Sturbe, SKODA Board Member for Technical Development said, “We are constantly working on optimising the passive and active safety of our models and developing occupant and pedestrian protection, as well as assistance systems. Numerous driver assistance systems are installed in the KAROQ that would otherwise only be found in higher vehicle classes,” says Strube. Euro NCAP awarded the occupant protection of adult passengers an excellent 93%. In addition, Euro NCAP highlighted the protection of the cervical spine in rear-end collisions. Euro NCAP also awarded the full score for the protection of pedestrians’ legs.
