With an objective to strengthen its position in mid-sized sedan car market in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) is soon going to bring its new compact sedan in Indian car market during the next year. To be christened as Vios the compact sedan is already on sale in few of the Asian countries. Recently the prototype of same was caught going under test drive, indicating the commitment of company to launch the vehicle in India. The compact sedan will bridge the gap between Etios and Corolla Altis and will compete against Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.

 

 

As far as power train is concerned, going through the taste and trend of Indian car market Toyota Vios would be launched in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant is reported to offered with 1.5 litre engine boosting the power of 107 bhp and torque of 141Nm, while the diesel with 1.4 litre D-4D diesel engine generating the power of 87 bhp and torque of 205Nm. Transmission system will comprise of five speed manual gear transmission system followed by option of four speed automatic transmission system. It is speculated to be offered with starting price of Rs. 7 lakh for the base variant followed by Rs. 10 lakh for top end variant.

 

 

Developed on the platform used by car maker on Yaris hatchback which is being sold in International market, the compact sedan will have 4,265mm, height of 1,510mm, width of 1,695mm, wheelbase of 2250mm and boot space of 506 litre. Toyota had showcased Vios during the Indian Auto Expo 2016. On the exterior Vios will continue the same design philosophy as offered in Toyota cars including large grille at front fascia, sleek headlights, angular air dame followed by Toyota logo mounted on the middle. The rear portion will be embellished with wrapped around tail lamps followed by thick chrome stripe. Inside the cabin you will notice most of features continued from Corolla Altis sedan including some interesting features like steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system, leather upholstery, start-stop button, 3-Din Music system and many more.
