India car sales report for May 2013
Major carmakers of India have disclosed the sales figures for the month of May 2013. Last month some of reported very good raise and some of faced with decline. In the month of May 2013 SUVs and newly launched diesel cars reported very good response. Here is detailed information about car sales in India as per companies.
Maruti Suzuki:-
Country's number one car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported a downfall of 14.4 per cent in sales for month of May this year. It sold a total of 84,677 units of Maruti cars last month as compared to 98,884 units in the same month of last year. Domestic sales of the company went down by 13 per cent to 77,821 units from 89,478 units May 2012. With it, Export of the Maruti cars reported a decline of 27.1 percent to 6,856 units from 9,406 units in same month of previous year. Its new Dzire and Ertiga have done well.
Hyundai India:-
Number two carmaker of India, HMIL reported a minimal sales growth of 2.1 per cent for May 2013. Its domestic sales declined by 0.3 per cent to 32,102 units from 32,010 units in May 2012. Meanwhile, exports of the Hyundai cars have shown a raise of 4.6 per cent. The company exported 24,754 units in May 2013 as against 23,659 units in the same month of last year. Its i20 premium hatchback was well seller in last month.
Tata Motors:-
Tata Motors sold a total of (including exports) 49,304 vehicles passenger and commercial vehicles in May 2013. It sold 11,134 units of passenger vehicles while, the sales of Nano, Indica, Indigo range stood at 8,927 units in May 2013. It sold a total of 2,207 units of Sumo, Safari, Aria, Venture range last month. The company reported cumulative sales of passenger vehicles 22,704 units while the cumulative sales of the Nano, Indica and Indigo range stood at 17,845 units. Meanwhile, cumulative sales of the Sumo,Safari, Aria and Venture range in May 2013 stood at 4,859 units.
Honda India:-
Honda Cars India has done very well in May 2013. It reported a raise of 9.8 per cent at 11, 342 units last month compared to total sales of 10, 334 units in same month of previous year. The company sold 6036 units of newly launched compact sedan- Amaze, 2012 units of Brio, 3202 units of City, 24 units of Accord and 68 units of CR-V.

Mahindra & Mahindra:-
For the month of May this year, M&M posted a sales decline of 1.2 per cent at 43,460 units. In the same month of previous year it had sold 43,989 units. But, domestic sales of the company gained by 5.4 per cent as it sold 42,104 units in last month compared to total sales of 39,938 units in May 2012. Exports of the company went down by 67 percent last month. It exported 1,356 units in May this year against 4,051 units in same month of last year.

GM India:-
General Motors India reported an overwhelming raise of 40 per cent in May 2013. The company sold a total of 8500 units last month against the total sales of 6079 units in the same month of last year. Sales of the company driven by Enjoy MPV (2177 units) and twins Sail (2851 units).

Renault India:-
Country's one of the fastest growing carmaker, Renault has reported 13 fold growth in sales for May 2013. It sold 6,013 units of Renault cars in India in last month compared to 438 units in the same of month of year 2012. Sales of hot SUV- Renault Duster stood at 5,146 nos.
Ford India:-
The company sold at total of 5,993 units (domestic+exports) ford vehicles in May 2013. It has exported 1,991 units against 1,693 units in same month of previous year and reported a growth of 18 percent. Domestic sales of the company stood at 4,002 units against 6,036 units in the same month of last year.

Audi India:-
Among the luxury carmakers in India, Audi India has done well. For the month of May this year it posted a growth of 57.42 percent with 710 units. For the period of four months (January to May 2013) it reported a growth of 24.8 per cent with 4096 units against the total sales of 3282 units in same time period of year 2012.
