Indian Car Manufacturers Being Holistic Towards Employees
Adopting the holistic approach towards their employees as an impact of a global pandemic the major carmakers like Renault, Skoda, MG Motor India, and Renault have assured their employees there will not deduction or threat of losing job post lockdown. Assuring their employees, the carmakers have told their employees despite there has been a decline in the cash flow and also affect the business plans, they will not take any such step which is against the interests of their employees. Taking a step ahead, the Czech carmaker Skoda has even confirmed that it will continue hiring the new staff in India according to its requirement once all the activities resume normally.

According to the industry experts retaining the workers is important for achieving the long term objectives. Moving the Volkswagen Group in India, which is also partnered by the Czech carmaker Skoda has ensured its employees that employees whose bonuses are due to the ongoing crisis will be paid accordingly. It would be interesting to know that the German-Czech group has more than 4,200 employees associated with them. In the words of Mr. Gurpratap Boparai - MD, Skoda Volkswagen India mentioned that he would be attempting the most difficult part by reducing the structural costs as well as overheads. However, he assured that there would be no job loss or pay cuts. He also mentioned that the carmaker will be considering to offer appraisal to the employees once the lockdown is lifted.
Commenting on the existing scenario, Mr. Rajeev Chaba, President, MG Motor India, said, "As corporates are busy making worst-case scenarios, we have taken a pledge that there will not be a single job cut even in the worst-case scenario for MG Motor in 2020." The same thoughts were shared by Mr. Venkatram Mamillapalle, MD, Renault India. According to him, the jobs of employees were safe. He confirmed that the employees are nervous over the last few months due to the crisis the entire world is facing. Putting an end to this dilemma, he assured his employees that they won't face any sort of pay cuts or job loss.
