Indian Grand Prix: A pre-event gift for F1 lovers

Well ahead of the first ever Grand Prix in India, people will witness Red Bull racing cars on the Rajpath. The event called Red Bull speed Street Event is expected to happen on October 1. The driver will be Hispania Racing Team's driver Daniel Ricciardo.

Currently, Red Bull Racing team are the leaders of F1 Championships, and it will be defending this season. The defending champion is Sebastian Vettel with 282 points. The driver at second position is Ferrari's Fernando Alonso with 172 points. Red Bull team is at 451 points in total, followed by Mclaren-Mercedes at 325 points.

This event on October 1, will mark Red Bull Racing Team's second appearance in India. The first was in 2009 in Mumbai, when F1 car was driven by David Coulhard.

This will be second international road show in New Delhi. The first such road show was held three years ago in 2008 when two Renault F1 drivers, namely- Lucas Di Grassi and Nelson Piquet drove on the Capital's streets. The event was witnessed by some 120,000 people. It was held on a spevially-built 1.2 kilometre track from India Gate to Janpath.

According to sources, some government officials, as well as bollywood representatives will be present at the India Gate, to flag off the event, which will be like a curtain raiser for Indian Grand Prix.

In addition to this event, there will be some biking and other performances as well.

Meanwhile, Vodafone has received 30,000 entries for the 'Drive into the Big League Contest'. This contest allows SMEs to put their logos, during the Grand Prix, on the car of Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes.

In order to promote the event and his team, India's F1 team Force One's owner Vijay Mallya has launched the second season of Force India The Fast and The Gorgeous season 2, which will be telecast on NDTV Good Times channel.
