Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid in pipeline of Hyundai for India

Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid Front Low View

Korean car maker Hyundai showcased the plug-in hybrid and pure electronic trims of its sedan Ioniq during the Geneva Motors Show held this during the month of January. It is now rumored that car maker is speculating to introduce the plug-in hybrid Ioniq in Indian car market sometimes during the next year.
 
Mechanically Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid will be empowered with 105 PS 1.6 litre Kappa GDi four cylinder petrol engine followed by 45 KkW (61) PS electric engine which is powered by 8.9 kWh lithium polymer battery.  Once launched in Indian car market, Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid will compete against generation next Toyota Prius hybrid slated for launch in Indian by the end of this year. The hybrid sedan will be brought in Indian car market through CBU route directly from company’s production unit located in Ulsan, South Korea.
 
It is anticipated to be priced around Rs. 40 lakh and like Toyota Prius will be sold only in limited numbers. However it will be one of the best cars by company which will reveal the technical strengths of car maker.
