Isuzu to launch cars in India soon

Japanese car maker Isuzu Motors has high plans for India and it has planned its foray with some cars, SUVs and MPVs. India certainly is becoming a heaven for SUVs. We have Audi Q3 getting exceptional orders, Mercedes Benz M Class launch has been utmost successful and recently the Renault Duster launch has been more than worth mentioning. Sensing this potential in the market where all SUVs sell well and there are SUVs for every price band. From Rs 6 lakh to over Rs 1 crore SUV, India has it all. India is not new to Isuzu as it has already tasted its engine performance in boats, Hindustan Ambassador and lot of other cars in India.

In order to make India its new homeland, the company is in communication with Andhra Pradesh government as it wishes to set up a plant at Nellore. By investing over Rs 1000 crore, Isuzu will be coming up with a plant that can produce 1.2 lakh cars annually and if needed, the car maker will be expanding the capacity as well. The plant will take another two years to three years to be functional. Prior to that Isuzu will be launching some cars by bringing them though the completely built unit route. This will also help it assess the success and acceptance of its cars in India. Two factors, low pricing and attractive offering, preferably in diesel will decide the success or failure of the brand in India.

As per the recent updates, the company will be bringing in Isuzu Ascender SUV (expected price Rs 9 lakh), Isuzu D-Max SUV (expected price Rs 7 lakh), Isuzu MU-7 (expected price Rs 11 lakh) and MUV Isuzu Panther that will be price similar to the Maruti Ertiga. All these Isuzu cars are expected to be launched in India this Diwali and reports suggest that Isuzu could choose GM as its partner in India.
