Jeep India Initiates The Bookings Of Meridian SUV

Jeep India, the Indian alliance of US-based car manufacturer, presently owned by the multinational group Stellantis, has started receiving the bookings of the upcoming SUV Meridian. The SUV is slated for launch in June.  The customers willing to buy the SUV can book it through the website or its dealership across the country on a down payment of Rs 50,000. According to reports, the carmaker has started the production of the SUV at its production unit located in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra.

Mechanically, the SUV will receive power from a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine and will be available with a three-row seating facility. The transmission duties will be performed by a six-speed manual transmission system as a standard, followed by an option of a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The driving options will include a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel driving option.
 
In the words of Roland Bouchara, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India, "The Jeep Meridian is the third new model manufactured in India since 2021 as part of Jeep's product offensive. A demonstration of the company's commitment to the domestic market, the Jeep Meridian will feature up to 82 per cent localisation and has been specially designed, engineered, and tuned for Indian road conditions keeping in mind the refinement expected by customers in the segment”.
 
According to Nipun J Mahajan, Head, Jeep India, the upcoming SUV is developed on the company’s SW architecture and inspired by its iconic product Grand Cherokee. In a statement, Mahajan said, the Meridian has undergone rigorous testing for more than 10 lakh km to ensure its power and performance.
