Jeep Recalls Compass, Grand Cherokee And Wagoneer In The US

The US carmaker Jeep has recalled 340,000 units of Compass, Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer in the domestic car market. The models recalled are said to have internal technical issues and will be rectified by Jeep dealerships across the United States.

To begin with the compact SUV Compass, the company has recalled its 181,999 units manufactured between February 17, 2021 and July 26, 2023. According to company sources, these models might have an incorrectly programmed body control module, thus making it difficult for the driver to face problems in adjusting the backlight through the instrument panel cluster. This restricts the display of the instrument cluster to the driver and increases the chances of an accident. The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards state, that there is a need for two levels of brightness to control the defective units of Compass SUV. This recall of Compass SUV also extends to 392 units sold by Mopar.

Moving to the second compact SUV Grand Cherokee,  the company has recalled its 162,713 units manufactured between May 17, 2021 and August 4, 2023. Along with this, the company has also recalled units of Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles manufactured from February 24, 2021, to August 4, 2023.  The units of these vehicles may have an issue with the central vision processing/park assist module (CVPAM) that can’t stop the camera signal from moving to access the media screen, at times, the vehicle is reversing. This is against the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The vehicles affected by CVPAM software issues will be updated by dealerships.
