Karoq is the Name of New SUV From Skoda, Landing on May 18, 2017
Czech car maker Skoda has confirmed that it will unveil its new compact SUV on May 18, 2017 in Stockholm. To be christened as Karoq the compact SUV will be launched to fill the gap of compact SUV Yeti and will be placed below the Kodiaq. The name of Karoq is reported to be derived from the Alutiiq, an indigenous tribe living on an island located in the south coast of Alaska. The compact SUV is reported to be developed on car maker’s vision of future cars that would be launched in International car market till 2025.

As far as mechanical aspects of Karoq are concerned nothing has been so far revealed by the car maker, but is reported to be offered with five engine options boosting the power varying from 115bhp to 190 bhp, depending upon the trim purchased by the customers. Inside the cabin it is reported to be offered with spacious cabin, followed by driver assistance technology and digital instrument cluster.

Commenting about the launch of Karoq, Mr. Bernhard Maier, CEO, Skoda Motors said, "The Skoda Karoq is a completely newly designed SUV that sets new benchmarks for our brand and its segment in every way. With this new SUV, we are taking the next logical step in our SUV strategy,"
It would be interested to know that naming its products based on some natural location or natural beauty has been the practice of Czech car maker. Prior to this the car maker had named Kodiaq on the basis of Kodiak island. The name of Karoq is mixture of two words namely KAA+RAQ referred to car and RAQ referring to an arrow.
