Lamborghini accident in New Delhi: car cos to intensify training to drive sports cars
Taking a lesson from the recent fatal accident of a Lamborghini, sports car companies in India are teaching the customers to drive the adrenaline machines carefully on Indian roads. The Lamborghini car accident has also taught a lesson that Indian roads are just meant for sleepy snail paced traffic and not more than that. Meanwhile, it is reportedly known that sports car companies have been organizing orientation programs to teach the customers the ‘right way’ to drive a sports car. Alas! These programs seem to be ineffective in taming the thirst for speed.
The recent accident by the Lamborghini car in New Delhi has triggered a debate whether the sports cars should be allowed to ply on Indian roads. In the accident, a 45-year-old cyclist was injured and reports are coming in that he may be paralyzed for life. Meanwhile, Exclusive Motors, the importer for Lamborghini, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes and Bugatti cars in India has reportedly said that with every sports car sales, the customer is briefed about the safety and other norms as well as repercussions. Satya Bagla, managing director of Exclusive Motors has in a report told that the Orientation program of the customer is aimed at making them aware of the capabilities of the car to catch high speeds in seconds and the manner in which these sports cars should be driven on roads.
Amidst all this, Mercedes Benz India has reportedly launched a special program with the help of which, it will teach its customers the perfect way to drive these kinds of sports cars. The drivers will be taught lessons at the Buddha circuit and the program is specially for Mercedes Benz AMG cars. A nominal fee of Rs 75,000 is charged and the participants are given a certificate on the completion of the training. Following suit, BMW is also said to be soon setting up such a training program soon. However, BMW plans to make this training free of cost.
Sale of sports cars in India is though limited but is consistent and approximately over 100 sports cars are sold annually by various car makers such as Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Maserati and Ferrari.
