Land Rover Adds New Member in its Family as Range Rover Velar
British car maker Land Rover has teased the first image of its new family member Range Rover Velar that will act as the bridge between Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The new infant in Range Rover family will compete against Porsche Macan and BMW X6. The Range Rover Velar embellishes new design philosophy inside the cabin which is not offered in other cars in Land Rover portfolio. On the exterior front the SUV carries the same design philosophy that is offered in its siblings, except the marking of smoother lines that were found in existing models. The Velar sports one long line moving towards the rear portion across the side giving it a sleek and sportier appearance. The more details are reported to be revealed by the car maker on March 1, 2017.
Derived from the Latin word ‘velare’ referring to cover up or veil, the history of introducing the ‘Velar’ name dates back to 1960 when the auto experts in the group were designing the first prototype of Range Rover vehicles to represent the luxurious SUV’s in the segment. At that time to represent the group of 26 prototypes of the Range Rover vehicles they decided to name as Velar.
Talking about the other features that would be offered in Range Rover from the images teased by the car maker it is witnessed that the rear of new SUV sports a clean and admirable rear portion. Commenting on this the sources of company say that simplicity, reductive approach and use of latest technology are the major parameters that are kept in concern while developing the Velar.
Commenting about Land Rover Ranger Rover Velar, Mr. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer, said, "We call the Velar the avant garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything."
