Land Rover Defender: Journey of 75 years to end in December 2015
The iconic Defender from legendary British car maker Jaguar Land Rover will not be seen on roads after December 2015. According to industry reports car maker is going to discontinue this historic vehicle after December this year. And to mark the memorable farewell of this heritage vehicle car maker is going to bring special editions named as Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition, Defender Adventure Edition, and Autobiography Edition.
Talking about the features offered in these three special editions of Land Rover Defender. The Heritage Edition would carry most of its cues from the first generation Defender with contemporary outlook. The edition would be launched in August 2015 and priced £ 27,800 (26.56 lakhs). The major attractions of this edition will be Grasmere Green paint job, contrast while colored garnish on roof, HUE graphics and heritage grille. This edition would be offered in different styles namely 90 Hard, 90 Station Wagon and 110 Station Wagon. According to reports 400 units of this edition would be manufactured.
Moving towards the Defender Edition, as the name suggests is developed completely with rugged looks. Priced £ 43, 495 (Rs. 41.56) this edition is also going debut in August 2015. Alike Heritage Edition it would be also launched in three body styles 90 Hard, 90 Station Wagon and 110 Station Wagon. To bless the vehicle more adventurous look it has been bestowed with underbody protection and rolls on Goodyear MT/R tires, bespoke decals and leather covered interior. The reports reveal 600 units of this edition would be produced.
The third and last edition that is Autobiography Edition would be designed to impress buyers preferring to enjoy luxurious features in their vehicle. Because of its high priced £61,845 (Rs. 59.10 lakhs) only 80 units would be manufactured. It would be interested to know that apart from luxurious features this edition will boost more power then compared to its regular version. This time it will generate the power of 150 HP and torque of 400 Nm, whereas the regular version generates the power of 122 HP and torque of 360Nm.
