‘Made in India’ Tiguan SUV Launched by Volkswagen
Volkswagen India, the Indian alliance of German car maker Volkswagen has launched its first ‘made in India’ SUV Tiguan in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 27.68 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai). The prototype of Tiguan SUV was for first time showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2016 and will now compete against Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer. It has been launched in two grades namely Comfortline and Highline.
Mechanically, the India bound Volkswagen Tiguan is empowered with 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged TDI diesel engine that has an efficiency of boosting the power of 140 bhp and torque of 340Nm, the transmission duty is performed by seven speed automatic DSG gearbox and is capable for delivering an average of 17.06 kmpl (ARAI Certified). It is offered with 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel drive system. The SUV is available at all Volkswagen dealers throughout the country for bookings and test drive.
The SUV is developed on company’s Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB) platform and embellishes the features like LED headlamps with DRLs, seventeen inch multi-spoke alloy wheels followed by an option of eighteen inch, roof-mounted spoiler, LED tail-lamp cluster and underbody skid plate at the rear portion to boost its exterior look. It will be offered with five color option of Tungsten silver, Deep black, Atlantic blue, Oryx white and Indium grey.
Inside, the cabin it receives leather covered flat bottom steering wheel, electronic boot opener and ORVMs, three-zone air conditioner with rear vents, speed sensitive power steering electric seat adjustment with memory, LED illuminated Panoramic Sunroof, Vienna leather seats, cruise control, push button start, keyless entry and many more. On the safety front sports features like six airbags, hill descent control system, auto hold, ABS, ESC, active hood pedestrian safety and few more. The highline trim is equipped with additional features to assist driver while driving, the list of these features include pedestrian monitoring system, emergency braking system and automatic post-collision braking system.
