Mahindra And Ford Join Hands To Develop EVs And Compact SUVs

According to recent reports Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra and U.S. based car maker Ford have joined hands to develop compact electric vehicles and compact SUVs under their joint collaboration. It is revealed that in the beginning both the companies will mainly work on developing five compact SUVs of which three would be smaller than four meters.
 
Along with this the U.S car maker is also developing a compact SUV codenamed as B763 to compete against Vitara Brezza with this the car maker is also working on generation next EcoSport is also on the cards for launch in 2020. On the other side domestic car maker Mahindra is developing a compact SUV codenamed as S201 which would be based on the same platform as used for developing SsangYong Tivoli. The same compact SUV would be also embellished with logo of Ford.

Commenting on the joint venture Mahindra’s managing director Pawan Goenka said"Both teams are working together on joint development areas in keeping with industry requirements and leveraging mutual strengths. We are excited about the synergies unveiled through this collaboration and the potential opportunities it will bring."
 
Industry experts believe that the reason behind this collaboration is Ford’s interest for using the electric technology used by Mahindra and Mahindra for developing its electric vehicle. Whereas domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra will use Ford’s technology for developing the generation next XUV500.
