Mahindra Car sales report for May 2013
Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s one of the leading automobile firms, has recently declared sales figures for the month of May this year. The company has done very well in domestic market but exports declined. In total sales, M&M reported a decrease of 1.2 per cent at 43,460 units in May 2013 as compared to total sales of 43,989 units in the same month of previous year. Mahindra's domestic sales rose by 5.4 per cent as it sold 42,104 units compared to 39,938 units in May 2012.
Sales of Mahindra's passenger vehicles including Verito, Bolero, Xylo, Scorpio and XUV500 increased by 5.15 percent at 22,244 units compared to total sales of 21,154 units in same month of previous year. Sales of Mahindra's commercial vehicles including Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks rose by 12 percent with 14,848 units. Meanwhile, sales of three-wheelers of the company went down by 7 percent to 4,028 units in last month this from 4,320 units in May 2012.
The company reported a decline of 19 per cent in Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd's commercial vehicle sales. It sold 984 units in May this year as compared to 1,210 units in the same month of previous year. Mahindra reported a big decline of 67 percent in exports. In May 2013, Mahindra vehicles' export stood at 1,356 units while in the same month of previous year it exported 4,051 units. Now, the company is going to make foray into the hatchback car segment too very soon. The Indian auto giant is launching the Mahindra Verito Vibe small car in India very soon that will compete with Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20, Chevrolet Sail UV-A.
