Mahindra To Stop The Production of Marazzo And KUV100
According to recent reports coming from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra it will phase out Marazzo MPV and KUV100 crossover from its line-up. The main reason behind this decision seems the poor performance by both the vehicles. Since the beginning of this year the company has sold out only 711 units of Marazzo and 21 units of KUV100.
Mahindra Marazzo: The Marazzo MPV is one of the best vehicles developed by the carmaker in recent years. It is equipped with all the features which a person expects to be present in his vehicle. The combination of a new 1.5-litre diesel engine, comfortable driving and seating with spacious cabin makes Marazzo the best MPV available in the market. Despite all these abilities it fails in impressing the buyers in the Indian car market as compared to its competitors Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Both Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga recorded the sales of 19,300 units and 37, 286 units sold respectively from the beginning of January.

From this announcement it is speculated that the company will not launch the powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine of the Marazzo which it showcased in the Indian Auto Expo 2020. This engine was developed on the company's new mStallion platform. The new platform will now be used for developing the new XUV500 (codenamed S301). The new XUV500 is believed to be launched by 2024.
Mahindra KUV100: Domestic carmaker launched the crossover KUV100 with lots of expectations. Unfortunately it did not succeed in enjoying the expected success. The company has now decided to phase out the crossover from its line-up. However, the company now plans to continue it as an electric vehicle suitable for city driving. The electric KUV100 is expected to make its debut next year in 2022.
