Mahindra To Upgrade Few Of Its Vehicle With BS-VI Petrol Engine

It is reported that the domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra is working on developing the BS6 compliant petrol engines for its big vehicles like Scorpio, Marazzo and XUV500. An information regarding this was revealed by Mr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, say that the vehicles which are recording the sales of 1000 units per month will be converted into BS6 compliant vehicle. This means that the vehicles like Verito, Vibe, Nuvosport, and Xylo will not be the part of this conversion. On the other side fleet of big vehicles like Scorpio, XUV500 and the Marazzo, that has been launched recently will undergo the major change.

Revealing the company’s sales result for second quarter Mr. Pawan Goenka said, "We will not bring a diesel on the KUV100 but when it comes to cars like the Scorpio, Marazzo, XUV500, I don't see a major change between petrol and diesel sales. These vehicles would predominantly remain diesel for some time unless there is an artificial barrier that is put on buying of diesel." He also added that the company is working on bringing the petrol and diesel versions of three vehicles empowered with BS-VI compliant engine.

The petrol variant of XUV500 was launched by the company back in 2017 with the price tag of Rs. 15.49 lakh, after that is the car maker launched the facelift version of the petrol variant in 2018. On the other side the petrol version of Scorpio was launched only in the NCR region.  The diesel version of Scorpio is also available with the starting price of Rs. 10 lakh.
