Mahindra & Mahindra Halts the Sales of Electronic Vehicles in UK

Despite of huge concern for pollution free environment the sales of electronic vehicles across the world have not been encouraging and therefore it seems the UK arm of Indian car maker Mahindra & Mahindra is going to halt the sales of its electronic car in UK car market. This move from UK Mahindra is quite surprising especially when the car maker had assessed huge potentials of growth for electronic vehicles in UK and European car markets.
The news regarding winding the sales of electric vehicles came in reply to query made by one of the customers in UK, wherein sources of the M&M said that going through poor sales of electric vehicles in the continent company is not able to maintain the necessary investment for smooth operations of ongoing project. As far as the units of unsold electronic vehicles are concerned it is not known that whether the company has remaining units at its yard or not. According to an unnamed source of company they are reconsidering the options of electronic vehicles in UK and will come back in the market on appropriate time. Moving ahead the source also said that company is now concentrating on Indian car market where buyers are conscious towards the driving of electronic cars.
Although M&M considers Indian car market suitable for the sale of electronic vehicles but industry mavens believe that the condition of the car maker are not going to be easier as it considers to be. Because despite of government efforts for encouraging the use of electric vehicles there not been any strategy determined by the government in this direction. However, moving towards the performance of e2o, undoubtedly it is one of the best cars in segment but due to lack of effective mechanism to encourage the use of such vehicles, the sales have discouraging for M&M. And, lots of things need to be done at both government and manufacturers level.
