Finally, the domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its highly acclaimed and awaited SUV Alturas G4 in the Indian car market with a starting price of Rs. 26.95 lakh and Rs. 29.95 lakh for  2WD and 4WD variants respectively. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices. Representing the exact meaning of its name Alturas, referring the height, it is one of the premium vehicles launched by the home-grown car maker, that will compete against Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X. As the SUV has been launched only in the diesel variant it will mainly compete against diesel variants of its contenders.

 

 

Under the hood, Alturas G4 is empowered with 2.2 litre, four cylinder, BS-6 diesel engine that is capable of boosting the power of 178 bhp and the torque of 420 Nm at 4000 rpm and between 1600-2600 rpm respectively. The transmission duty is performed by seven-speed automatic torque converter transmission system in both the 2WD and 4WD variants. The Alturas G4 is regarded as the generation next Ssangyong Rexton. On the exterior front it receives aggressive vertical chrome slats with Mahindra badge studded over it. The list of other features offered on the exterior front includes HID headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, followed by integrated LED DRLs offered as cornering lamps on the front bumper.

 

 

Other features to enhance its exterior aesthetics include ORVMs with mounted turn signals, large roof rails. The rear portion adorns roof mounted spoiler with brake lights, the Alturas G4 logo placed above the bootlid, and wraparound LED taillamps. Inside, the cabin it is offered with dual tone Nappa leather interior, LED cabin lights, soft-touch dashboard, and leather covered door trims. Apart from this, the list of other features includes seven inch digital cluster, three zone climate control, eight way power adjustable driver seat, electronic parking brakes, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking assist system, rain sensing wiper and many more. On the safety front it is equipped with Eletctronic Stability Programme, ABS+EBD, HDC, BAS, ESS, ARP and more.
