Mahindra & Mahindra working on global crossover, codenamed S105

During last couple of months domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra has been aggressively launching its vehicles in Indian car market. The beginning of this series commenced with launch of compact SUV TUV300 in the month of September 2015, mini SUV KUV100 in January this year followed by modified version of Mahindra Quanto speculated to launch soon in Indian car market and to be christened as Canto.

Although all these launches were and are for Indian car market and it was reported that home grown car maker is working on bringing the refreshed version of its best selling SUV, XUV500 for international market. Now, according to recent reports despite of XUV500 company is working a new crossover which will be a global product developed on recently introduced mini SUV KUV100 and has been codenamed as S105. The proposed crossover will launched to bridge the gap between XUV 500 and TUV300 and being a global product will be enriched with all contemporary safety and comfort features. Apart from this it will also carry new designing philosophy.

As far as power train is concerned it will sport the same newly developed mFalcon series of engine configuration as offered in KUV100. That means its petrol trim will be energized with 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 petrol engine and 1.2 litre mFalcon D75 diesel engine. Both the engines will be coated with five speed manual gear transmission system. In the words of Mr. James Halliwell, Marketing Manager, Mahindra Australia, the S105 will be bigger than XUV500 and will be enriched with all mandatory safety and comfort features as required for global vehicles.
